Bishop Alexis A. Thomas preached "The Song of the Waiter". He used Luke 2:25-35 as his reference scripture.
On September 28, 1976, Stevie Wonder released his album entitled, Songs in the Key of Life. It proved to be an exciting, memorable, and enjoyable collection. The songs reminded us of our own lives. The Bible is also a book of songs. There are songs for all occasions. The "psalm" means song. That's why we don't say the first chapter of Psalms. We say the first number of Psalms, because they are songs. The angels proclaimed the birth of Jesus with singing, "At once the angel was joined by a huge angelic choir singing God’s praises: Glory to God in the heavenly heights, Peace to all men and women on earth who please him." Luke 2:14(Message) Deuteronomy 31:19-22 says that God gave the Children of Israel a song, “Now write down the words of this song, and teach it to the people of Israel as my warning to them...So, on that very day, Moses wrote down the words of the song and taught it to the Israelites." (Living Bible) King David wrote and sang songs, Paul and Silas sang songs and praised God while in prison, and the Apostle John saw a great choir in heaven, "I heard a sound like massed choirs in Heaven singing, Hallelujah! The salvation and glory and power are God’s—his judgments true, his judgments just." Revelation 19:1 (Message)

Luke 2:25-35 introduces us to Simeon. The scriptures tell us that he was "righteous and devout". He was familiar with the promises of God and he knew that the Messiah was coming. God promised him that he would not die until he saw the baby. So he waited, and waited, and waited. Bishop Thomas said, "He worshiped, he waited, and he checked bassinets. LOL. He obeyed God, and waited for the promise. He had "Faith"! He knew that God could be trusted. When Joseph and Mary brought Jesus in to be circumcised, the Holy Spirit revealed to him, that this one was the one. Simeon rejoiced!
This is the song of the waiter..."God, you can now release your servant; release me in peace as you promised. With my own eyes, I've seen your salvation; it’s now out in the open for everyone to see: A God-revealing light to the non-Jewish nations, and of glory for your people Israel." (Message)
If you are waiting for that blessing, that healing, or that deliverance...BE ENCOURAGED! God always keeps his promises. Study your bible and remind yourself often of his "great and precious promises". Like Simeon, be confident that God will do what he says he will do!
