Happy Sunday!
2 Corinthians 10:12 says, "Oh, don’t worry; we wouldn’t dare say that we are as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement. How ignorant!"(New Living Translation). Don't miss this! Comparing ourselves to other people is stupid! Jesus is the example, the blueprint! Another human being should never be our measurement. They may be inspiring, and there may be things we can learn from them. But God designed each of us uniquely. You have something to contribute to the society that differs from what I have to contribute.
Knowing who we are in Christ is a major way to stay away from comparing. When you can truly understand that God loves you and has a great plan for your life it gets easier.
Dr. Bill Winston continued the series, "Christ in You", with the subtitle, "The Greater Works". He reminded us we have been empowered to reign. Romans 5:17 says, "For if because of one man’s trespass (lapse, offense) death reigned through that one, much more surely will those who receive [God’s] overflowing grace (unmerited favor) and the free gift of righteousness [putting them into right standing with Himself] REIGN as Kings in life through the one Man Jesus Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One)."(Amplified). In order to reign in life, we need to get back to the BOOK, the Bible! I appreciate my Baptist upbringing. Scripture memorization, Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School all helped to get the Word into my soul. But it doesn't stop there! Daily meditation on the Word, even one scripture can provide guidance, comfort, and insight into what to do in this life. There are Bible Apps that can remind you to read, and there are ministry apps that send encouraging quotes. There are Podcasts, Web Sites, and YouTube Videos. In this technological age, there is really no excuse for ignorance of the Word.
Life can be hard, busy and complicated. There are days when it would just be easier to stay in bed. But we have been commanded to GO! Matthew 28:19 says, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"(KJV). We have to do our part to change our families, our communities, and our world.
Love and prayers, Cynthia
