Happy Sunday!
"Thank God! He deserves your thanks. His love never quits. Thank the God of all gods, His love never quits. Thank the Lord of all lords. His love never quits."(Psalm 136:1-3).
Have you ever wanted to purchase something and had to diligently check the dates because the sale price was ending? Have you ever been enjoying a food or dessert and come to the end of it? What about a lovely vacation or time off work? These enjoyable things soon come to an end. BUT the Word of God reminds us of the things that will remain the same FOREVER! Aren't you glad that Hebrews 13:8 assures us, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."(KJV).
Psalm 136 tells us that God's "Mercy" is forever. That might not make you happy, but it brings me great joy. Mercy is defined as "That benevolence, mildness or tenderness of heart which disposes a person to overlook injuries, or to treat an offender better than he deserves; the disposition that tempers justice, and induces an injured person to forgive trespasses and injuries, and to forbear punishment, or inflict less than law or justice will warrant. In this sense, there is perhaps no word in our language precisely synonymous with mercy That which comes nearest to it is grace. It implies benevolence, tenderness, mildness, pity or compassion, and clemency, but exercised only towards offenders. mercy is a distinguishing attribute of the Supreme Being."(Webster's 1828 Dictionary). I'm so glad that His "Mercy" endures forever and I benefit.
God not only extends "Mercy", he also gives us the ability to be merciful as well. Proverbs 14:21, "He who despises his neighbor sins [against God, his fellowman, and himself], but happy (blessed and fortunate) is he who is kind and merciful to the poor."(Amplified).
