4 Types of SIN

 Happy Monday!

"Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, Whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose spirit there is no deceit."(Psalm 32:1-2 NKJV).

The Psalmist, King David gave us insight on SIN!  He was a "Man After God's Own Heart" but he also knew about SIN!(1 Samuel 13:14, Acts 13:22).  In this psalm, he shows us the 4 types of SIN as a reminder so that we can avoid it!

Transgression is the first type of SIN.  Transgression is Defiance or Deliberate rebellion against God.  Brother Kenneth Hagin told a story of a young boy disciplined by the teacher. He was told to stand in the corner but whispered to another student, "I'm standing up on the outside, but I'm sitting down on the inside!"  He was defiant!  2 Thessalonians 2:4 says, "For we speak as messengers from God, trusted by him to tell the truth; we change his message not one bit to suit the taste of those who hear it; for we serve God alone, who EXAMINES our hearts’ deepest thoughts."(Living Bible).

Sin is the second type of SIN!  It represents a Defect!  It means we have fallen short or missed the mark or target, and lack discipline and strength.  Romans 7:18-20 says, "And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to do what is right, but I can’t. I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is SIN living in me that does it."(NLT).   "Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord."(Romans 7:25 NLT).  Galatians 2:20 tells us we can win over Sin..."I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the FAITH of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."(KJV).

Iniquity is the third type of SIN!  It describes a distortion, something bent or crooked!  Back in the day criminals were called "crooks" because they didn't follow the straight and narrow way.  Romans 1:29-32 says, "Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness and sin, of greed and hate, envy, murder, fighting, lying, bitterness, and gossip. They were backbiters, haters of God, insolent, proud, braggarts, always thinking of new ways of sinning and continually being disobedient to their parents. They tried to misunderstand, broke their promises, and were heartless—without pity. They were fully aware of God’s DEATH penalty for these crimes, yet they went right ahead and did them anyway and encouraged others to do them, too."(Living Bible).

Deceit is the fourth type of SIN!  "Literally, a catching or ensnaring. Hence, the misleading of a person; the leading of another person to believe what is false, or not to believe what is true, and thus to ensnare him; FRAUD; fallacy; cheat; any declaration, artifice or practice, which misleads another, or causes him to believe what is false.; In law, any trick, device, craft, collusion, shift, covin, or underhand practice, used to defraud another." (Webster 1828 Dictionary).  Galatians 6:7-9 warns and encourages us, "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. And let us not be weary in WELL DOING: for in due season we shall REAP, if we faint not."(KJV).

Let's continue to avoid any type of SIN!  1 Corinthians 10:12 says, "Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall."(KJV).

Love and prayers, Cynthia
