Busy Sunday

Good Morning!

We had connection problems with our internet service all weekend.  So I wasn't able to get "Happy Sunday" out as usual.

I planned to type it up Saturday night and send it off early Sunday morning because we had an "ole Fashioned" all day church day.

We went to regular morning worship.  Our guest speaker was Bishop Walter Thomas from Baltimore, Maryland.  He preached lead by example.  He used 1 Chronicles 29:1-5 as his reference scripture.  He encouraged us to be leaders in every area of our lives.  King David wanted to build a temple for the Lord.  It was his desire.  Sometimes we misunderstand the following scripture..."Delight thyself also in the Lord: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Psalm 37:4 (King James Version)  The desire of David's heart was to build the temple, but God told him "NO".  Contrary to popular belief, we don't always get what we want!  But any of us who have lived for a while know that even if we don't get what we want...things always work out for our good and God's glory.

We went to a second service at Greater Progressive Christian Church in Phoenix, Arizona.  Greater Progressive was celebrating their Pastor's 24th Pastoral Anniversary.  Pastor Bertrand Russell, Pastor of Fountain of Life House of Worship preached, "Stay In The Race!"  He used Hebrews 12:1-2 as his reference scripture, "Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls! (Message Translation)

Finally, we returned to our home church, Pilgrim Rest Full Gospel Baptist Church for a concert.  The Inner City Youth Orchestra of Los Angeles came to celebrate Black History Month with us.  They were excellent!  You should check them out...(http://www.icyola.org).

Praying that this week you lead by example and stay in the race!

Love and prayers, Cynthia
