Happy Sunday!
I hope you have enjoyed a blessed, and prosperous week! I served in Children's Church today, and I didn't get up early enough to go to one of the first two services. So I'll have to catch up on Dr. Winston's sermon when they add it to the web site! Last year our church suffered minor damage to the roof in the rear near the Children's Church during a storm. I said all this to say, we are currently completing the remodeling in the area and we moved the children's services to our Youth Sanctuary today. People sometimes don't do well with change. I can be included in this group as well. The world changes, our jobs change, even our relationships change. We tend to resist change as if it may kill us to try another way. We just get comfortable doing things the way we have always done them and don't want to change. But change is necessary in life, and especially in our walk with the Lord.
The Apostle Peter wrote to the church, "But grow in spiritual strength and become better acquainted with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be all glory and splendid honor, both now and forevermore."(Living Bible). Don't miss this! Our level of knowledge of the Lord and his Word must change and grow as we go through life! We should not be on the same spiritual level that were on last year. If you were cursing at the drop of a hat last year, now that you know that your words have the power of life and death...your speech should be positive and "seasoned with salt". (Colossians 4:6, KJV). If you were selfish and evil last year, prayerfully and hopefully the "Love of God has been shed abroad in your heart" this year!(Romans 5:5, KJV). If you were fearful about world events last year, you should definitely lean on, trust in, and rely on Jesus this year!(Proverbs 3:5-6, Amplified). It's the only way to survive!
The Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian believers, "We’re not keeping this quiet, not on your life. Just like the psalmist who wrote, “I believed it, so I said it,” we say what we believe. And what we believe is that the One who raised up the Master Jesus will just as certainly raise us up with you, alive. Every detail works to your ADVANTAGE and to God’s glory: more and more grace, more and more people, more and more praise!
So we’re not giving up. How could we! Even though on the outside it often looks like things are falling apart on us, on the inside, where God is making new life, not a day goes by without his unfolding grace. These hard times are small potatoes compared to the coming good times, the lavish celebration prepared for us. There’s far more here than meets the eye. The things we see now are here today, gone tomorrow. But the things we can’t see now will last forever."(Message).
Don't be afraid to change! Don't be afraid to examine why you do things the way you do, and be willing to make adjustments. Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin used to say, "The Blessings of God are not going to just fall on you like ripe cherries off a tree!" You have to do your part. Not meeting that special someone in your current circle? Change circles! Not working in the career you love and desire? Start applying for other positions, go back to school, get out of debt, be willing to relocate! Not seeing the changes in your body that you want to see? Change your eating habits, change your exercise routine! Change! Change! Change!
Changing me. Love and prayers, Cynthia
